Amra is a lecturer in Islamic Studies and Arabic and has been a lecturer in Islamic Studies and Arabic at Birmingham University and The University of Warwick. She is a course convenor for Islam and Gender at the New Cambridge Muslim College. With
20 years experience in community work Amra has given a
multitude of presentations on Islam at all levels from UK schools through to international conferences in Germany,
Britain and Jerusalem.
Since 2005 Amra has been a member of the Birmingham Shariah Council which adjudicates on Islamic divorces. This has been the subject of a number of television documentaries including
Amra is a member of the National Muslim Women's Advisory Group and a member of the the Muslim Faith Leaders Training Review Board. She is also a member of the West Midlands Faith Forum Executive and
the national Sikh-Muslim Action Group. Her particular areas of interest are gender issues and interfaith.
In addition He has
been involved in youth and community work for the past 20
years and has been involved in a number of national Islamic organisations including the Young Muslims UK and the Islamic Society of Britain through which he has given many presentations, mainly to University Societies and Interfaith
groups.
