Sheikh Riyad
Nadwi gave a presentation on The Universal Concept of Compassion
– An Islamic Perspective. In his deep and insightful speech he
explained how compassion is a phenomenon that evolution struggles
to explain and that is in reality a gift from God. He also addressed
the issue of whether we have a right to complain to God for the
hardships we face in this world.

Amra Bone obtained an MSc in Islamic Studies from Birmingham University where she
went on to teach Islamic Studies full time for 2 years.
Amra is currently studying her
PhD.
In 2006, Amra was appointed to sit on the Birmingham Shariah council board in
order to adjudicate disputes within the Muslim community relating to divorce etc.
according to Islamic Shariah.
Over the past 15 years Amra has given a multitude of presentations on Islam at all
levels from UK schools through to international conferences in various countries. |

Timothy J. Winter (Abdul
Hakim Murad) of Cambridge University spoke about the sacrifice
of Abraham, a tradition common to all the Abraham faiths. He discussed
whether this could be used as a basis for coming closer together
and achieving some common understanding. |

Fazlun Khalid and Hajjan Saba
Khalid (husband/wife) addressed issues on the topics
of family, community and the environment, with an Islamic perspective.
Fazlun is the Director of IFEES - the Islamic Foundation for
Ecology and Environmental Sciences and Saba is a writer and broadcaster.

Sheikh Abu Bakr As-Sudani the
Imam of Islamia Primary School in London gave a moving account
of the true essence of the festival of Eid. His colleague also
make an appeal on behalf of Ulfa Aid a charity working to address
the plight of the thousands caught up in the current conflict
in Sudan. |

Sister Batool Al Toma is a graduate of St. David's University College, University of
Wales. She is a Research and Education Officer at The Islamic Foundation and has
devised and facilitated a number of training seminars, conferences, and educational
forums.
She is a convert to Islam with her main area of interest being religious conversion and
has established a variety of services related to the overall support, education, and
continuing development of converts to Islam in the UK. |

Jamal
Badawi is a professor at Saint Marys University in
Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada where he is currently a cross-appointed
faculty member in the Departments of Religious Studies and Management.
Dr. Badawi is the author of several works on Islam. He also researched,
designed and presented a 352-segment television series on Islam,
shown in many local TV stations in Canada and the USA |

Shabir Ally is currently the President of the Islamic Information and Da’wah Centre International in Toronto, Canada. He is a former student of Dr. Jamal Badawi and is an accomplished and experienced debater for Islam. He is also the author of numerous books and articles on Islam and comparative religion. |

Abdullah Hakim Quick Ph.D. has travelled to more than 34 countries on lecture and educational tours. He embraced Islam in 1970 and thereafter pursued his studies at the Islamic University of Madinah, where he completed a BA from the College of Da'wah and Usul al-Din.
Shaykh Abdullah Hakim has served as Imam, teacher and counselor in the USA, Canada and the West Indies. |

Dawud Bone graduated from Bradford University with a degree in Civil and Structural Engineering. He has a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education from Leeds University and
was a teacher for 2 years at secondary level. Dawud has given many talks and presentations. He is currently working towards his
Doctorate in Education at Warwick University and has held the position of President of
the University Islamic Society for 3 years. He is now the Chaplain of the Muslim Wing of
the University. His particular areas of interest are Islamic Law, Education and Interfaith. |

| Sheikh
Hatham Tamim of the Utrujj Foundation addressed the theme of ‘Forgotten Women Scholars of Islam' in July. The presentation was highly informative and made everyone much more
aware of the tremendous contribution Muslim women have made to scholarship
and social development over the centuries. |

of Islamia Primary School in London, first set up by Yousuf Islam
(formerly known as Cat Stevens). An
American by birth, he has
been a farmer, and an actor before bringing
his life skills to the classroom and to school
